~About Neekta~

Hi! My name is Neekta! Welcome to my website! I am a passionate baker and foody. My love of baking stems from my own food sensitivities. When I was only 8 years old, I came down with a severe onset of anxiety and OCD that got very bad very quickly. Lucky for me, my parents found a functional medicine doctor who helped them find out what was wrong after 9 months of tests, trials and errors. Turns out that I am (and was) highly sensitive to any food that is high in oxalate (a chemical compound found in all foods).

This discovery saved my life, but it also meant that I could not enjoy most foods that kids love. Some of those foods include pizza, pasta, normal pastries, cookies, cakes, and more. After years of experimentation, I created recipes that serve people with gluten sensitivities, dairy sensitvities, and low-oxalate diets. My treats consist of many different options for many different people, and are made with good quality ingredients! I started my mini home-bakery business (The Sensitive Tasty Treats) during Covid, back in 2020. Since then, my love of baking has grown and blossomed into a beautiful career! My mini home bakery now has a food handler's certificate, and goes through Toronto health inspections. On this website, you can order customized celebratory desserts, join my monthly subscription box (if you live in the greater toronto area), get notified about annual pop-up shops, and even learn how to make my recipes yourself at home! ~About my products~

Here are the different options that I have: 

- All of my cakes and desserts are gluten-free. I never sell cakes with gluten and wheat. My baking SPACE isn't 100% gluten-free, since my bakery is home-based. So, if you or a guest has celiac disease, let me know so that I can specifically get the kitchen ready for your order.  

- Regular wheat cakes are not an available option. 

- All of my cakes and desserts are dairy free. My SPACE isn't 100% dairy-free, since my bakery is home-based. So, if you or a guest has any severe dairy intolerance, let me know so that I can specifically get the kitchen ready for your order.

- For customized cake orders, the frostings and creams CAN include dairy, but the cakes cannot.

- Some of my desserts and cakes include high-oxalate ingredients. So, if you have a severe sensitivity to oxalate (like me), let me know so that I do not bake with those ingredients. Each high-oxalate option in my dessert lists will have a label to let you know.   

- Some of my desserts and cakes include nuts. If you or a guest has any nut allergy or sensitivity, let me know so that I can avoid those ingredients. Any dessert option with nuts in my dessert lists will have a label to let you know.

- Since some of my desserts include nuts, my SPACE isn't 100% nut-free. So, if you or any guest has any severe nut allergy or sensitivity, let me know so that I can specifically get the kitchen ready for your order. 

- My desserts consist of MANY organic ingredients. All ingredients are of good quality. 

- If you want to know the ingredients of your order, let me know so that I can provide you with an ingredients list. All of my monthly subscription boxes already consist of an ingredients list. 

- When ordering, let me know if you are or are not ok with artificial food dyes, because most of the time, it is not necessary.
